Current Annual Report
This year’s annual report seeks to give impetus towards an ecological economic policy, for the international financial and economic crisis shows just how vulnerable societies are that exclusively pursue short-term economic results for maximum return. The Federal Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt - UBA) identified focal areas for charting the course for the necessary ecological restructuring of the economy.
The main areas of focus identified by the Federal Environment Agency are:
- Making mobility more environmentally compatible – more investment in transport infrastructure and eco-friendly vehicles
- Decoupling growth from consumption of energy and resources
- The contribution of agriculture to the protection of air, water and soil – more investment in sustainable agriculture
- Emissions trading as the engine for climate policy
